What Customers Say About London Calling:

Quick to ship. Bought this album for my child for Christmas. No problems.

They also were one of the greatest rock bands in the world during that time.if not the best. If it didn't sound like The Eagles, Steely Dan or The Beatles they dismissed it as fluff. Nobody mentioned it on the news or in the papers. Very cimematic in scope. When I played this album to my friends they all thought I'd joined a skinhead group, and really didn't give it a chance.

This band was bursting at the seams with creativity. That's how superficial most listeners are. I still get all revved up when I hear it. Well, over 30 years after the release of London Calling, I've come to the conclusion that THIS IS ONE OF THE 10 BEST ROCK ALBUMS IN HISTORY. If you love rock and roll.this one is an all-time gem. How can you go wrong with titles like "Rudy Can't Fail, Lost In The Supermarket, Hateful, Spanish Bombs, The Right Profile (a song about doomed actor Montgomery Clift) Brand New Cadillac etc. This album gave it credibility because it was so eclectic and creative.

Every cut is done with urgency.every cut is so different. It's unfortunate that most people didn't even bother because they were so different in scope. Time has proven that. A ROCK MASTERPIECE. When I first purchased this in 1980, punk and new wave rock had a bad reputation with the Sex Pistols and other ranting pogo-dancing head bangers. The production especially is superb.something usually not expected from a punkesque band. When leader Joe Strummer died in 2002 at age 50 of a heart attack, most people hardly knew about it or cared.

The is a flat-out masterpiece that doesn't have a weak SECOND, let alone song. The invention is astonishing. If you're interested enough to have looked up this album on Amazon, then you are the kind of person that MUST own this record.I used to think this was a great album that kind of ran out of steam towards the end.I was wrong. This is not a punk album; they had evolved way beyond that. This is simply one of the greatest albums of popular music that will ever be recorded.

Brilliant production. Masterful playing, writing and singing. If you don't have it, then buy it. Five stars are not enough. The apogee of rock. After 30 years it remains unsurpassed.

Buy the LP and you'll see what I mean. London Calling is easily one of the 10 best albums from it's era. The sound is so generous and the passion right out there on the edge. One reason I bother to keep a turntable going. For those that don't know the album cover of London Calling is a take-off of Elvis Presley's first record, but instead of smiling for the camera the Clash are smashing a guitar.

This is music that suffers from being chopped up into samples, and can't be fully described in bits. The amazing nuance of a finger on a string and a vocal track recorded in a single take are things that mostly disappeared not long after this record came out. To me this record, along with the Elvis record bookmark the beginning and end of the first 25 years of rock music. I remember walking into a record store in December '79 and the owner of the store was raging against the album art. This record is one of the finest examples of electric as opposed to electronic music.

Song for song a masterpiece.
